The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) of India has released its Phase V
‘Addition of product categories to the Schedule of the ‘Electronics and Information Technology Goods
(Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order.”’ on October 1, 2020.
From April 1, 2021, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) safety approval will be mandatory for the product
types under certification.
The Department of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) along with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) require testing and certification for specific electronic and electrical products intended
for the Indian market before market entry. Such devices must adhere to provisions of the Compulsory
Registration Scheme (CRS).
For currently 61 regulated product types, introduced during the phases 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the BIS CRS
scheme roll-out, it is mandatory to obtain BIS registration for all the Local and foreign manufacturers,
importers and distributers. From April 1st, 2021, phase 5 of the scheme will regulate further 7 products on
testing by accredited facilities is an essential part of the certification process. Our India laboratory can
support testing to prove compliance for regulated products as per Indian Standards (IS) being one of the
first recognized by the BIS.

the “Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order,
2012, namely”: -
- Wireless microphone IS 616:2017
- Digital Camera IS 13252 (Part 1): 2010
- Video Camera IS 616:2017
- Webcam (Finished Product) IS 616:2017
- Smart Speakers (with and without Display) IS 616:2017 \
- Dimmers for LED Products IS 60669-2-1: 2008.
- Bluetooth speakers IS 616:2017
