No Objection Certificate (NOC) For Steel Product Importer
Indian was the fifth largest steel importer, importing steel from over 160 nations and territories. Excessive import giving rise to product dumping which affects the trade of the country. This is the reason the government has taken anti-dumping measures to ensure that domestic industries are working fairly. One of the major steps taken by the Government of India and BIS Bureau of Indian Standards is that covered approx 145 steel products under Mandatory BIS Certification and must bear ISI Mark on it.
Some steel goods, however, are still exempt from obligatory certification. For import and customs clearance, certain steel items simply require a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Ministry of Steel.
No Objection Certificate (NOC)for Importers
A No Objection Certificate (NOC) is a certificate required for steel commodities with varying requirements. If the qualities of the steel grade/product do not fit within the scope of the Standard BIS list for Steel and Steel Products, the Ministry of Steel issues an exemption/clarification/NOC on the consignment arriving in India.
In some cases, a product's code implies to customs that BIS registrations are required despite the fact that they are not. Furthermore, customs authorities may mix up "similar" products with those covered by "required BIS certification," resulting in unnecessary delays and substantial penalties.
To avoid delays and penalties, you must get a "No Objection Certificate" (NOC) from BIS stating that the given steel product is not covered under mandatory Indian BIS Certification.
With all our experience of working closely with BIS, we can help you in getting NOC for steel products.
