Mandatory BIS certification for 1,3 Phenylenediamine, Lauric Acid, Acid Oil, Palm Fatty Acids, Rice Bran Fatty Acids, Coconut Fatty Acids, Rubberseed Fatty Acids, Hydrogenated Rice Bran Fatty Acids

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has issued Quality Control Orders for 1,3 Phenylenediamine, Lauric Acid, Acid Oil, Palm Fatty Acids, Rice Bran Fatty Acids, Coconut Fatty Acids, Rubberseed Fatty Acids, Hydrogenated Rice Bran Fatty Acids.

As per this order, the Bureau of Indian Standards has added all the above acids to the mandatory BIS certification list. All the mentioned acids shall conform to the corresponding Indian standard and shall bear the Indian Standard Mark (ISI Mark) under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards. Hence, the Bureau of Indian Standards has made it mandatory to obtain BIS certification for Lauric Acid, Acid Oil, Palm Fatty Acids, Rice Bran Fatty Acids, and other acids.

This order was published in the official gazette on 27th April 2022. It will go into effect on the one hundred and eighty-first (181st) day after publication in the official gazette. Anyone who violates the terms of this order will be punishable under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.

The manufacturer must first obtain BIS certification for Acid Oil, Palm Fatty Acids, Rice Bran Fatty Acids, Coconut Fatty Acids, Rubberseed Fatty Acids, and other acids from the Bureau of Indian Standards to use a standard mark. To obtain BIS certification for all products, the manufacturer must ensure that the Product conforms to applicable Indian standards.
