Laptop/Notebook/Tablet are required mandatory registration under Bureau of Indian Standards.
These products are under the Compulsory Registration Scheme to be test and registered as per BIS.
Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) is operated under Bureau of Indian Standard (Conformity Assessment) Regulation, 2018 (Scheme II of Schedule II), as per the BIS Act 2016. This Scheme aims to provide momentum to the rapidly expanding sectors of Electronics & IT, while simultaneously protecting Indian consumers from spurious and substandard products.
The aim of this strategy adopted by the Government of India is to help in preventing the dumping of non-compliant goods and bridged the gap between People, Technology and Safety.
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) added 13 additional product categories including Laptop, Notebook and Tablet require mandatory registration from May 2015.
The Manufacturers and importers of Laptop/Notebook/Tablet are required to test and register their product under Indian Standards IS 13252:2010 as per BIS.
