ISI Mark is Mandatory for Marine plywood as per BIS IS 710: 2010. This Indian Standard lays down the requirement, sampling and test procedure for marine grade plywood used in places where it is subjected to high moisture, high humidity and water contact. The standard includes specific requirements for resistance to water, fungi attack and delamination, as well as critical quality parameters like dimensions, thickness tolerances, bonding strength and durability. IS 710:2010 specifies that the hardwood veneers used should be of superior quality and the adhesives used should be of weather and boil proof (BWP) category to give superior structural integrity and long term performance under severe service conditions. The standard focuses on manufacturing methods and on checks to ensure that the plywood can resist water for a long time without degradation. It also provides for marking, packing and labelling for proper identification, traceability and verification of compliance. The IS 710:2010 certification by Bureau of Indian Standards guarantees that marine plywood adheres to the country's quality and performance standards, providing reliability, durability, and suitability for marine, shipbuilding, coastal construction, and moisture-rich environments.
