BIS QCO FOR MONOCROTOPHOS
Monocrotophos, an organophosphate insecticide, fights pests that threaten crops. However, its potential harm to human health and the environment cannot be ignored. Recognizing this, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has contemplated making compliance with IS 8025:1990 standard mandatory for both domestically manufactured and imported monocrotophos. These regulations are intended to ensure responsible use while promoting the safety of both farmers and consumers. By making compliance with these standards mandatory, an important step has been taken towards protecting public health and ecological balance. This step not only emphasizes the importance of strict regulations but also underlines the collective responsibility to develop a sustainable agricultural future.
The adoption date of these regulations is pending, but once enacted, they will become effective within six months. Stakeholders and interested parties have 60 days from the date of this notification to provide comments and feedback.
