BIS QCO FOR ELECTRIC IMMERSION WATER HEATERS
It will be mandatory for all electric immersion water heaters to be certified as per BIS IS standard 368:2014. Without being certified by BIS ISI, the product cannot be imported, exported or marketed in the Indian market. All electric immersion water heaters that require certification for the safety of household and similar electrical appliances have been included in the mandatory list of BIS ISI certification. These products must display the Standard Mark, indicating compliance with these standards, and must obtain a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards following the Scheme-1 mentioned in Schedule-II. this order does not apply to goods or articles manufactured within the country for export purposes.
There are specific timelines for the enforcement of this order concerning micro enterprises and small enterprises, as defined by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006).
For micro-enterprises, the order will come into force twelve months from the date of its publication, while for small enterprises, it will take effect nine months from the date of publication.
