BIS conducted Raids on Cattle feed Manufacturers

Bureau of Indian Standards conducted raids on unlicensed cattle feed manufacturers in Jammu and Kashmir. Significant quantities of non-ISI marked Cattle Feed were seized during the raid at M/s AB Industries, where non-ISI Cattle Feed was being manufactured and packed.

The Bureau of Indian Standards JKBO is taking action against the offenders in accordance with the Bureau of Indian Standards Act of 2016. According to the BIS Act of 2016, it is illegal and punishable to manufacture cattle feeds without a BIS license, and there is a provision for a fine of Rs. 2 lakh or two years in prison or both.

BIS certification is required for all cattle feed manufacturers to ensure that products meet Indian standards and are safe. FSSAI has made it mandatory for commercial feed/feed materials to comply with the relevant BIS standards. It can only be manufactured, imported, distributed, and sold with the BIS Certification Mark.

BIS intends to crack down on manufacturing facilities that produce products without the ISI mark in order to protect consumer interests. Manufacturers must obtain BIS certification for cattle feeds as per IS 2052:2009 from BIS to use the standard ISI mark and sell their products in the Indian market.
