BIS Certification for Woven Ground Covers for Horticulture Application

IS 16202:2014 specifies the construction and other requirements for 100 gsm woven ground covers made from UV stabilised polypropylene tape yarns for horticultural applications. Under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, all woven ground covers must comply with this Indian standard and bear the Standard ISI Mark.

To use a standard ISI mark, all woven ground cover manufacturers must obtain a BIS Certificate for woven ground covers from the Bureau of Indian Standards. A BIS license is granted to the manufacturer in order to use the standard ISI mark on their product and sell it in the Indian market. Only after confirming that the product meets Indian standards, the Bureau of Indian Standards issued a BIS licence.

To obtain a BIS certification, manufacturers must submit an application through the BIS portal. Following application submission, BIS officials will review the application and audit the manufacturing facility. Samples will be tested to ensure that the product meets Indian specifications. If the woven ground cover meets Indian standards, the Bureau will grant the manufacturer a BIS license for woven ground cover.
