For the automotive industry, the Bureau of Indian Standards has issued IS 18885 (Part 3):2021 for Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Valves. These valves enable tyre pressure sensors to accurately monitor tyre pressure, thereby improving vehicle safety, fuel efficiency and emission reduction. This standard provides requirements and guidelines for valve design, size, material, strength of components, valve performance under temperature and fire conditions and other specified parameters. For sale in India, TPMS valve manufacturers must have BIS certification. The approved range must also bear the ISI mark which is proof that they are manufactured as per national standards of safety and quality and are reliable and perform to high standards.
