BIS CERTIFICATION FOR TAP

BIS certification is mandatory for tap. All the manufacturers of taps are required to obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to use the ISI mark on the tap. In order to obtain BIS certification and produce and sell standard quality taps, the manufacturer must ensure that their tap meets the requirements of applicable Indian standards.

There are various types of taps. Each type of tap has a different standard that specifies the material, manufacture and workmanship, construction, finish, and testing requirements. The materials and methods used to make the various tap components must meet the requirements specified in the standard.

The Bureau of Indian Standards monitors product quality, and undertakes various surveillance measures to ensure that certified products conform to applicable Indian standards. After successfully evaluating the manufacturing infrastructure, quality control, and testing capabilities, BIS will grant a license to use standard marks (ISI mark) on tap.
Each tap must be marked with the nominal size of the tap, manufacturer name, or trade mark. Tap may also mark with standard mark (ISI mark).
