This norm specifies the minimum requirements ensuring accuracy, reliability and transparency of weigh-in systems for industrial applications, trade and commerce. Meeting this requirement will enable equipment suppliers to offer weighing systems that deliver accurate gauging and ensure consistent performance over a wide range of operating conditions. Henceforth, electronic weighing system manufacturers are to undertake BIS certification for any sale in the Indian market. This ensures that the weighing systems meet the standards of quality and safety that is set by BIS. Also must of all the verified scales and weighing machines are labeled with the ISI mark, which is an attestation to the accuracy and quality of equipment.
