BIS Certification for Thin-walled plain Bearings

IS 10203:1982 is a Mandatory BIS Certification of Thin-Walled plain bearings. The Indian Standard has been designed to give the dimensions, tolerances, and designation requirements of plain bearings with thin wall meant to be used in those applications where compact design, less weight, and efficient load support are required. The standard establishes the main dimensions, series of dimensions, tolerance limits, and parameters of accuracy to guarantee interchangeability and good work in the automotive and industrial assemblies. IS 10203:1982 insists on precision of the dimensions and controlled manufacturing procedures to ease correct fitment when used in the housings and on shaft, resulting in evenly distributed loads, a lower level of friction and a longer service life. The specification standardizes critical design features in such a manner that bearings produced by other manufacturers can be used and will perform with the same level of functionality under different operating conditions. It also stipulates a marking, identification and dimensional verification requirements to guarantee traceability and alignment to set standards. The certification BIS under the IS 10203:1982 gives assurance to the manufacturers, OEMs, and end users that the thin-walled plain bearings are in compliance with the nationally recognized standards regarding the dimensional accuracy, structural integrity and operational suitability. Obedience helps to facilitate reliable usage in the automotive engines, compressors, pumps, and the general engineering devices, where size, longevity, and smooth running are of the essence.
