The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has developed a new standard, IS 17546:2021, on Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride CPVC fittings pertaining to the potable hot and cold water supply piping systems. This standard relative to plumbing and water supply systems performs adequacy regarding safety, effectiveness, durability, and other important criteria for plumbing works with regards to temperature and pressure conditions that are encountered in residential and commercial structures as well as during water distribution systems operation.
Now, these specific manufacturers of CPVC fittings for potable water distribution are obliged to have BIS certification prior to selling their products in India after the adoption of this standard. This certification serves as an assurance of quality and dependability which is relied upon by consumers and builders. Furthermore, all certified CPVC fittings are required to bear the ISI Mark which indicates compliance with former Indian standards for quality assurance.
