BIS Certification For Chains for Motorcycles The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has begun certification for motorcycle chains under the IS 11740:2014 specification. This standard establishes safety requirements for longevity and dependability of operation of motorcycle chains, which provide the crucial link for the transmission of power from the engine to the wheels. When manufacturers meet this benchmark, they can ensure that their belts will perform at optimum levels of strength, resistance to wear and efficiency in all riding conditions and on any road. With this, makers of motorcycle chains will now have to get BIS certification before they sell the product in the Indian market. This hallmark ensures that the customers get nothing but the best quality and safety standards followed by BIS. Moreover, all two-wheeler chains coming under this standard shall also be marked with the ISI Mark, which is a well-established symbol of assurance and ISI standards continue to benefit the society.
