The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has issued a Quality Control Order mandating BIS ISI Certification for Beta-picoline, a colorless liquid with a sweetish odor. Beta-picoline is crucial in the production of Vitamin B3 (Niacin), an essential component in cosmetics and medications. Vitamin B3 (Niacin) serves various pharmaceutical purposes, including treating skin conditions, enhancing digestive functions, reducing high cholesterol risk, and managing diabetes. In order for the manufacturer to comply with the regulations for export and import in the Indian market, Beta-Picolin must comply with the Indian Standard IS 16112:2013 and display the Standard Mark under license from the Bureau of Indian Standards, as per Schedule-2.
