Bis Certification For Ferrosilicon
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has introduced a new standard, IS 1110:1990, specifically for ferrosilicon. Ferrosilicon, an iron-silicon alloy, has significant importance in various industrial applications, serving as the primary silicon source for steel and iron production, used extensively in the manufacture of electromotors, transformer cores and silicon steel. In addition, it is used in hydrogen production in the military sector and in the production of corrosion-resistant alloys. In the cast iron manufacturing process, it facilitates the acceleration of graphitization through inoculation. Compliance with BIS certification is now mandatory for manufacturers wishing to distribute ferrosilicon related products in the Indian consumer market.
