BIS Certification for Marine plywood
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has recently issued a Quality Control Order, for Plywood and Wooden Flush Door Shutters. This order will become effective six months from the date of its official notification. However, Small Enterprises, as defined by the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), will start following the rules nine months after this notification is published.
For micro enterprises, as defined under the same Act, the rules will come into force after twelve months from the date of publication of this notification.
According to this order, all products related to Plywood and Wooden Flush Door Shutters must meet the Indian Standard 710:2010 (Marine plywood) and display the Standard Mark. To obtain this mark, a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards is required, following Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
It is important that this order is not applicable to products or goods manufactured within the country for export purposes.
The Bureau of Indian Standards will serve as the certifying and enforcing authority for the goods or articles Plywood and Wooden Flush Door Shutters.
In the event of non-compliance, individuals who violate the provisions of this Order will face penalties as per the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
