WHAT ARE CDSCO APPROVAL AND DRUG LICENCING?
The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) is a drug regulatory agency under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. It is primarily responsible for enforcing the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, which include approval of new drugs, regulation of imported drugs, clinical trials, and coordination of state activities to achieve uniformity in the administration of the Act throughout the country.
CDSCO is in charge of approving the licenses for certain types of important pharmaceuticals, such as blood and blood products, vaccines, sera, and intravenous fluid, conducting clinical trials, establishing drug standards, and monitoring the quality of imported drugs into the country.
