The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution has drafted the order and proposed to make the Hallmarking Compulsory for selling the precious gold jewellery and artefacts. Is Hallmarking Compulsory ? This notification will issues on 15 January 2020 across the nation and will be implement after one year from the date of issue. All the jewellers and retailers of gold and artefacts are given time for one year to comply with the Compulsory Hallmarking Registration. Now all the gold centres and jewellers must have to apply for the Hallmarking Registration for their golds and artefacts to sell in the market with trust and quality. How do I get a BIS Hallmark Licence ? As per the scheme the manufacturers/retailer are required to apply the application to the BIS for Hallmark and after the submission of application with some necessary documents and the fees is found within the and in order then the Hallmark License is granted within the specified time period (7 working days).
