What is the WPC Certificate/Equipment Type Approval (ETA) in India?

WPC stands for wireless planning and coordination wing. The WPC is a wing of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology that was established in 1952 and is now run by Saral Sanchar Online Portal.

WPC is the National Radio Regulatory Authority for Frequency Spectrum Management under the Ministry of Communication. The National Radio Regulatory Authority is responsible for Frequency Spectrum Management, which includes WPC ETA certification and licensing.

The WPC Office issues WPC (ETA) Licenses for IT and Electronic devices to meet the needs of wireless technology users. In India, only WPC-approved wireless, Bluetooth IT, and electronic items that operate on specific frequency bands and comply with human safety regulations can be sold.

WPC Equipment Type Approval (ETA) is required before importing any wireless device into India that operates in a de-licensed frequency range. Each wireless product manufactured in India will also need an ETA certification. This includes Bluetooth devices, mobile phones, Wi-Fi technologies, RFIDs, and other items. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi-enabled device manufacturers and importers must obtain a WPC license (ETA certificate) from the Wireless Planning and Coordination wing.

Anyone who wants to do a wireless device business in India must have a WPC certificate. Aleph India has extensive experience in WPC certification/ETA certification for IT and Electronic Devices for both domestic and international clients.
