Bis Certification for Tables and Desks Tables and desks are ubiquitous in households, offices, schools and other commercial establishments. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has prescribed certification IS 17633:2022 for tables and desks to ensure the quality, durability, and safety standards of these products. This certification is a prerequisite for manufacturing, importing, exporting, and selling the products in India. IS 17633:2022 outlines the requirements pertaining to material, design, strength, stability, and performance evaluation to be conducted on the tables and desks. Facilities for production and fabrication are to be additionally registered for the scope requested under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 and relevant rules. The products manufactured or fabricated under this scheme are expected to bear BIS mark, ISI being the mark of the Indian government conforming to requisite quality and safety.
