The aim of your new proposed standard is to support environment friendly and zero energy consuming cooling methods especially in rural and semi urban area where electricity availability may be scarce. Cooling cabinets formulated with clay for the perishable fruit, vegetables and milk and the like uses the natural characteristic of the evapolative cooling of the clay. This move implies now the suppliers of such cabinets will have to get BIS certification before selling such cabinets in India. The certification guarantees that the cabinets comply with the quality, endurance, and performance standards set by BIS. These and all products that are certified to standard must bear the ISI mark, ensuring that the product adheres to the Indian quality standard and consumer trust.
