Bis Certification For Coated Papers and Board (Art and Chrome) The Bureau of Indian Standards has issued IS 4658:2019 which prescribes the standards for coated papers and boards, including art papers and chrome coated paper. Such papers are essential in high-quality printing operations like magazines, brochures, and packaging as well as advertising materials where their printability, durability, surface finish and durability are critical. This standard addresses the concerns associated with coated papers and boards regarding uniformity in coating gloss, brightness, gloss tangential strength—how coated paper delaminates in relation to applied forces—and longitudinal shrinkage stability under imposed stresses over time. With IS 4658:2019 the BIS has assured manufacturers sustained industry compliance for workmanship and reliability mandated by business expectations. Suppliers wishing to market these products within India must secure BIS Certification of Compliance (CoC), thus proving dependence on national norms. Moreover, all certified products are required to bear the ISI mark which indicates assured quality certification by consumers' faith.
