Bis Certification for Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride (CPVC) Pipes The chlorinated polyvinyl chloride pipes for potable hot and cold water distribution systems is covered by standard IS 15778:2007 formulated by the Bureau of Indian Standards. This specification provides the requirements for quality control of CPVC pipe material to prove that it is safe, durable, and capable of withstanding temperatures and pressures that are normally experienced in water systems. With this standard, manufacturers of CPVC pipes are required to have BIS certification to market or sell their products in India. This seal on the pipes guarantees that the pipes are made in accordance with the quality and performance standards decided by BIS. In addition, ISI Certification is also a mandatory requirement for CPVC pipes to certify the basic presence of the Standard Mark on the pipes in order to give the confidence to the consumers and other stakeholders about the safety and reliability of CPVC pipes.
